Today we went to Zhouzhuang a water town near Shanghai. Zhouzhuang water town, China

It has old Ming buildings and canals that run through the town. We hired a gondola and went for a ride through the canals. View from our gondola

That was lovely, really peaceful. Another one from our gondola

We stopped to watch the Chinese Opera when we first got there and got mobbed! Chinese Opera at Zhouzhuang, China

You'd have thought we were celebrities with the attention we got. It got ridiculous though, after 10 minutes we left as Cody was getting too upset. All around the town they have markets, and some of the stuff is so beautiful. There was a man carving combs as we watched. And only in China could you see fish on a lead! Yes, in the canal, there were 2 fish tied to a lead in the water! We can only guess that they were to attract other fish there. We bought some lovely souvenirs there before we left, and had New Zealand Natural Ice Cream (of course) for lunch. On the way back to Shanghai in peak hour traffic our driver decided to have a shave! I am just grateful it was a man, I'm not sure a woman could shave her legs and not crash the bus! Only in China!
