This morning we woke up at around 7:15am to get ready for our safari. We had breakfast at our hotel again and went downstairs after we got all our things together.
The safari vehicle was late but that was expected. We ended up leaving for Lake Manyara at around 11am. In our safari group besides Kim and I was a young lady from Russia, Julia, and a Polish man, Robert.
Two hours after we left Arusha we arrived at our campsite, Twiga Campsite, which is located in Mto wa Mbu (River of Mosquitoes). The drive to this town was beautiful because we were able to see the rural countryside and Mt. Meru. We walked a bit in the town and then came back to the campsite for lunch. After lunch, we went to Lake Manyara National Park.
Situated in The Rift Valley, Lake Manyara was a spectacular sight to behold. The scenery was beautiful; jungles, wetlands, and plains dominated the landscape. The forest had trees which looked to be thousands of years old due to their gargantuan size. We were able to see many animals including a lion, which is part of "The Big Five". As I was on the safari, I couldn't believe one of my childhood dreams was coming alive.
After Lake Manyara, we came back to our campsite, ate dinner, and went to the bar. Now, I am in my tent not knowing what new sights lay ahead. Usiku mwema!
