Although around 11.00pm last night, I thought the tent was going to do a "Monument Valley", the winds died down and I got a good night's sleep.

In the morning, we packed up by 8.45am and drove tot he Green River Overlook for one last view of Canyonlands.

By 10.30am we had crossed the state line and were in Grand Junction.

We drove past Colorado National Monument and down to Montrose.

We stopped briefly in Montrose before heading to Black Canyon National Park.

It was hot today and we were weary but we set up the tent and rested in the shade.

However the colony of ants nearby were irritating so we decided to go and visit Black Canyon which had been gorged out by the Gunnison River (1 inch per century).

We spent a while going to the various viewpoints before returning  to camp.

We rested in the evening and played cards. During the veining, the mule and dear came to graze on the campsite. They were not at all afraid to be approached.

By 10.30pm I was asleep!
