The knee was really stiff again this morning but it is not quite as painful as it has been. This morning, I had a lie in and at 10 o'clock, Eli the tut tut driver (Rasta) took us into Hermanus. It was only the second time I had ridden on a tut tut (the first time was at Dar el Saleem). He kindly dropped me off right outside the internet café so I would not have to walk around as much.

From here, I went straight to Walker Bay to go and see the whales. As soon as I got there, there were whales very nearby and they were sticking their head and fins right out of the water today. They were also making noises which I had not heard yesterday. I sat at Gearing's Point for a couple of hours just watching the whales and enjoying the lovely coastline. This coast reminds me of the north east of England but it also has spectacular mountains right up to the sea which is just an addition to the magnificence of the panorama.

I fell asleep in the peace and tranquillity of the whales and the bay and woke up feeling very hot! I went for some late lunch before returning to Gearing's Point for a little while longer. We returned to the camp on the tut tut and I finished (at last) my sudoku book which felt like another milestone. I felt a little frustrated as I wanted to go for a walk but knew that my knee was simply not up to it. Patience! I had walking around in Cape Town in the back of my mind which served as an adequate deterrent.

Early evening, Caolan threw a champagne party which was a good chance to see a few goodbyes. It is better that way! I decided to stay at the camp and rest my leg as the rest of the group went for a meal. I relaxed and had an early night.
