We left Swakop to Henties via Spitzkoppe. Spitzkoppe is a place where they dig all kinds of semiprecious stones. See the displays on the photos.
I must say that Anita has been going "bananas" about stones even before we got here. She just keeps looking at every stones from her side window. When she gets out she is already looking at the stones. So, when we got to the entrance to Spitzkoppe, you just can imagine what happened. Could not get her out of there.
Eventually, after spending a few R's on stones, we continued to the site.
It is a communal site and seems to run ok. We did not plan to stay there, but not a bad choice for the area.
The road leaving Swakop is a tar road all the way to Windhoek, so Anita was in heavens. It did not last long as 120K's we turned north into Spitzkoppe.
Then down again into Henties. It is quite impressive the change in landscape. Close to the coast is flat and very little grows in the flats. Further up, there are mountains and valleys. Although there is vegetation it is scarse and desert like. There is game roaming freely. The fences are becoming less and less.
Namibia is a beatiful country. What is important is that they have realised it and are selling "tourism" big time. There are many rented RTT (Roof top tent) bakkies going around with tourist and also big buses.
See you at Henties!!!!!

PS: There are many replies outstanding. We can only blame time and internet access. It is just not good enough to upload. So, Please be patiente. We will get there!!!!!
