After having paid 130 Namibian dollar (1 N$ = R1) for a permit, we could go see Sesriem Canyon. You also require a permit for Sossusvlei. Same cost. In fact, anything you want to see - needs a permit. In this case - it was well worth it!

The Canyon is much bigger and deeper than we could have imagined.  It is definitely a "must see".  Not sure why it is not as popular as the dunes.  It should be.

The Canyon is nice an cool even in the heat of day.  It is about a 5 km walk, or as far as you are willing to go. We did not do it all as we were heading off to Solitare and we still had to break up camp.
We enjoyed the Canyon and could not get over the amount of different types of stones.

When we got back to camp the wind was howling at about 100km p hour (Anita's speed estimate).  Breaking up camp was a job and a half.  We were glad to be out of there.

Solitare was 60 km away and we were running late.

Can not say for sure. At the moment we are about 10 days behind plan. We went into Windhoek, which was not part of the original plan. Now 2 days in Swakopmund and we added Spitzkoppe.
So might be towards the end of July.
But looking forward to meet you guys there!!!
