Port St John's must have been a nice place many years ago. The natural setting is spectacular but it has been run down to a large extent.  The vegetation is lush and they are trying very hard to keep it indigenous.  But in terms of accommodation (whether camping or else), I would not consider it.

There is one coffee shop worth mentioning. (See pic.) Very nice lady lived here for 5 years already and loves it.  She serves a good Coffee from Hillcrest –Assegai .  An oasis in the desert. Other than that here is petrol and a Spar.

There is a camp site that we did not get to and could only see from the road.  It is on the left side of the road when entering Port St Johns. Or at least it looked better from afar then the other 2 in town
