We missed Mkanbathi as it was too late to book in. We will try next time.So we continued and ended at Mbotyi.
Mbotyi is rural Trankei. Beatiful coast line. An estuary situated between two rivers.
Not much in the sense of development here. But picturesque and friendly people.
The camp has all we need. Water, electricity, good and clean ablutions and next to the estuary.
We took the coastal road. Not as bad as it is made to be. You could do it on a sedan (Ok. Not during the rainy season). In fact there are a few around. Most of it are taxis though.
One of the interesting things is the amount of cattle on the beach. For some reason that i don't know, you see herds of them sunbathing or just walking along. There is nothing to eat. All I can think is that somehow they like to drink the water at the river mouth. (Some salinity issue or??).
Anita was most impressed by seen a goat about to give birth. And then coming back, there was the new born. She even has a photo of it.

Yip, so we left and the tears were rolling till after Hiberdine!! I know. Our kids are all grown up but it seems to get even more difficult to leave them behind. Specially now that there are littlies too. Had a wonderful time with Carla, Luke and the kids. Nicole and her 2x K's also came to spend some time with us. What lovely friends you have.
The road - in my opinion - was horrible!!!! even more so in the dark. We got to Mkambathi at @ 7h45. 45 min too late. (We saw jackal, owels and rabbits along the way). Oh, and "the sky is the limit" (LOL) Funeral car went speeding by no less than 3 times in different directions.Wondered what the rush was??? Was starting to wonder if it was some kind of a sign. Hehheee.
This ment that we had to go all the way back up and down again to get to the road to Mbotyi. 100 km away (2 hours drive on these roads) Finally arrived at 10pm. Thank goodness Water, the guard, was on duty and opened the gate for us. We set up and had a wonderful hot shower. By 11h30 we were off to dream land.
Mbotyi is a great holiday destination. Would love to come spend 2 weeks or so here with the kids and grandkids. Tomorrow we leave early to Coffee Bay and Hole in the Wall. Around 8 hours travel.

Interesting to know you are on the coastal road. We were told it is so bad it's not even 4 x 4 (by some idiot, now we know) so it's great to follow your blog - such a good idea and great photos too. Really enjoyed the slideshow.
