We finally hit some bitumen roads on the way to Potosi, however the town itself was a little disappointing. The town was once rich due to the nearby silver mines and you can see the European influence in the city from the days of the Spanish and in it's day was probably incredibly beautiful but after centuries of neglect has lost that shine.

We decided to make it a quick stopover as the only thing to do was go down the mines that have a dubious health and safety record so we didn't feel it was worth it.
