Since the last blog, we've moved from Singapore to the land of Oz. We flew into Melbourne, and the second day it was like being back in Belfast-it was truly baltic. It just about hit about 13degrees! Fear not however as the weather is now on course and the sun is out! Anyways it wasn't too bad as it meant we didn't mind sitting inside as we had to figure out what we were going to be doing. We stayed there for the first week and I must say the highlight defiitely was The Ramsey Street tour-a lifelong ambition fulfilled! It's quite surreal standing in the middle of the Street (which is really small by the way). A few nights before we had been to a Neighbours pub quiz as well, where we meant Liddy, Dylan, Declan and Dr Darcy (all characters if you don't watch it!). Excellent stuff.
Apart from that, we also went on a Day Tour to Philip Island, which is famous for Penguins. They all troop out of the sea and accross the beach at night to find a bed for the night. On the way down we stopped for a spot of wine tasting and also at a wildlife park where we fed kagaroos and saw some local wildlife (not sterotypical of Oz whatsoever!). Another highlight was driving along the Great Ocean Road. We got a perfect day for it and the scenary was amazing.
From Melbourne, we flew up to Brisbane to spend 2 days before driving to Sydney. One day we went to the famous Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin's aka the crocodile hunter), and the next we pottered around the city. We drove down to Sydney in 2days and of course we had to stop at the beach along the Gold Coast. Only one word of advice before you set off on a 1000km roadtrip-remember to look out your ipod transmitter for the car or else, like us, you'll drive for 450km with no radio signal!! So we arrived in Sydney last night and this morning we went on a tour of the Sydney Opera House. We were so impressed when we heard the orchestra rehearsing that we bought tickets to go and see them tomorrow night-very random and slightly hilarious I think but we're all looking forward to it! In the afternoon, we took the boat over to Manly for a look aroud, and of course a beach stop!
