Today the preschoolers continued on with their workbooks, which involved a lot of coloring. A make-shift sandpit was also made with a bag of sand that had been lying in the corner for a few months. They all loved it and needed some coaxing to finish playing for lunch. I also enjoyed making sandcastles!
At the moment, the school is literally coming down with king coconuts as there are a lot of trees in the grounds
. So for the past few days, every man. woman and child seems to have been drinking them-yet the pile still doesn't seem to have gotten any smaller! They don't look like coconuts and taste more like melon but the flesh inside is definitely coconut! Apparently they are very good for you as they are saline. There's so much liquid in each of them making them very heavy. I wouldn't like the be under a tree when one of them decided it was time to drop! To open it you have to hack it with a very sharp knife and with great force to get through the soutside shell. Gourie is the one who cuts them for us - remind me never to cross her when she has the knife in her hand!
My first afterschool class today were little angels. Usually they are one of the noisier groups but they got on with their work and I hardly heard a peep out of them! There must have been something in the air. The second class was the oldest ones. It was the final class that I had to go over the exam paper with so now that's all done.
Yesterday was a typical Sunday. The Sunday school class I was with was learning about Adam and Eve-I came to that conclusion as at the end they drew a man, a woman and a tree with a fruit on it. Had a good chat (well as good as you can with a person who speaks little English) with the teacher I was with which was nice. On the way out we were invited to the church lunch but had to turn down the offer as it was all very spicy food! They said next time they would make sure they had something for us so hopefully they'll have another before we leave.
