As it was Mr. Gordon's last full day today, he came over in the morning to take some photos of the children. If you bring out a camera, all the children gather around you - they love having their pictures taken. He was then treated to a rendition of "If you're happy" and also "Wheels on the bus". Then they got out the instruments and gave him a taste of the "Smile Band". When he was saying bye to them, it really hit home that I have to leave all the children in 12 weeks - that's something I'm not looking forward to. I think I'm going to have to sneak away in the middle of the night!
The comical highlight of today was Gordon learning how to cook! He wanted to know how to make this delicious Sri Lankan steamed pudding so Parody (the cook) with Gourie her able assistant, came over for a cooking demonstration. Mark and I observed with great delight - nothing beats an English man and a Sri Lankan woman arguing over how much Juggery (a type of sugar) weighs! We'll get to taste the end product tonight as he is bringing it to the Pot Luck dinner. Smells good though.
There was a lot of preparation today for the Sports Day at the end of this week. Hopefully it'll all go smoothly because a lot of time and effort is going into it. I've never cut, colored and drawn so many things in my life. There are no afterschool classes this week as they are practicing for it. Today the played Musical Statues - their dance moves are amazing! More thumbnails ...
