I left Hambantota at 4am on Saturday morning. Was a very early start but you don't really notice the journey at that time as you sleep for the first few hours. I travelled up with the teachers and their families. The main reason why they came was to visit a local sports day that was happening. We are having one in 2weeks so they were up to see how it's done. However before that we fitted in a visit to an aquarium and the zoo. All the teachers then started their journey back that night. It was a long day but really good plus a weekend isn't complete without seeing an elephant!
Today was spent in Colombo getting a few things sorted out. Tomorrow morning sees the arrival of Baldy Mark who'll be here for the next 3months - Hambantota seems to be a magnet for the Irish at the minute! For me that means a day relaxing at a Hotel with magazines! We'll then head back to Hambantota early Wednesday morning.
So what did I finally do in Colombo today? Apart from losing half an inch of hair and not being able to find "The Simpsons Movie" on dvd? I got a tatoo! It's on my hip and it says "grace" in Sinhala. I had narrowed it down to a few words but chose grace - "God's Riches At Christ's Expense". I did however chicken out of getting a lifelong one when I found out they did ones that last 5years! At least I have the option to make it permanent in the future!
