And i thought days in Sri Lanka couldn't get anymore random! Just goes to show you never know what to expect!

Walking along to church this morning, i saw the most random sight. standing at the side of the road, was a man with a candyfloss machine and bags of pink candyfloss hanging above him! for a moment i thought i was back in portrush. it was one of those surreal moments where you think "did that actually happen or was i dreaming?!" turns out i wasn't dreaming as he was still there on our walk home - and he had a customer!

This time it wasn't me who was sitting with their head between their legs during the church service, it was Gordon's turn!! we must be making quite an impression! Next week we'll see if we can both make it thro and if we do, we can buy candyfloss to celebrate!

We went to the Oasis hotel for lunch. There are 2 hotel's in the area - the Peacock and Oasis. Our Tutu (3wheeler taxi) had just arrived to pick us up and as i was locking the door, out of the cornor of my eye, i saw a cow just standing looking at me! so again we have a lural and hardy moment - the tutu driver chasing it round 1 side of the house, and gordon at the ready to chase it down the otherside. i meanwhile stood holding the gate open thinking "i do quite fancy a burger for lunch". the cow ran up the back of the house so we thought it would escape through the back, but when we arrived back from lunch, it was standing as bold as brass in the neighbours front garden!

Lunch wasn't any less eventful. we had just ordered our meals, when a snake's head popped out through the door!we are now old hands with the snake after last weeks capture, so we raised the alarm with the staff. Now i don't mind snakes, if it had been a mouse or rat, i would have been on the next plane to Belfast. but as i see it, snakes eat mice so i'm all for them! anyways the staff try to catch it and when they finally caught sight of it, it turns out to be a cobra - we think it was a baby one. they had great pleasure in showing it off and when i asked them what they were going to do with it, they said release it. i personally would have gone for the other option of a hammar to the head!

so that's just another sunday in sri lanka. i can't see anything else happening today......i hope!
