Tampere was founded around Tammerkoski river in 1775 by Gustav III of Sweden. It is the third largest city in Finland with around 200 000 inhabitants, making it the biggest inland city in the Nordic countries.

Tampere is a lively student city and (maybe therefore) one may find there active and colourful cultural as well as night life. People are laid-back and enjoy eating mustamakkara, a local food speciality which resembles blood sausage. Try it if you dare! Not my favourite.. but I'm not such a meat eater anyway..

I visited Tampere in a cloudy and rainy day so the pictures don't do the city any justice.
