After an exciting week of road trippin in our rented hippie van Kevin and I leave in just a few hours for Bali.  The past week has been amazing and very packed with events, here's a brief synopsis:

Fri: head into town, hit the bars in the city one last time
Sat: Have an amazing brekky (smoked salmon with eggs and toast, yum!) then pick up our van...it was spray painted to the theme of Mad Magazine...we were glad we didnt get one of the more offensive ones (they have some pretty vulgar ones!).  Then we drove almost the entire way to Wilson's Prom, about 4 hours including getting slightly lost.  Slept on the side of a country road somewhere, helped us to embrace our inner hippy that was to be the heart of this journey.
Sun: Do two amazing hikes in Wilsons Prom, one to Millers Point with mangroves at the bottom and the other to Squeaky beach which was *suprise* a gorgeous beach.  We decided to fork over the 20 bucks and actually stay  in the park that night.  and good thing we did, because we were lucky enough to have a wombat wander through our campsite and practically bump into us (poor little guys dont see too well).
Mon: Do two more amazing hikes in the prom, this one to the top of Mount Oberon with stunning views over the whole peninsula, then the other through temperate rainforests.  We decided as we left the park to head to Phillips Island which was sort of on our way to the Mornington Peninsula.  Here we were lucky enough to have penguins get a bit confused and actually crawl over our feet! we were the only ones they got this close to and the ranger lady said we were "very very lucky"
Tue: Drive the rest of the way to Mornington Peninsula, do a little obligatory wine tasting, some strawberry picking, brief hiking and then cooking on the beach.
Wed: Hiked out to Point Nepean, the tip of the mornington peninsula, where there are a couple of abandoned forts and some gorgeous scenery.  Took the ferry across the bay and began drivign the great ocean road. Met a cool english couple with indian heritage who saw our van and decided to pull over to chat with us.  ended up staying late and talking politics and philosophies with them, its always nice to meet like minded  travelers!
Thu: enjoyed more of the great ocean road and relaxed
Fri: Saw the Twelve Apostles and London Bridge and drove back most of the way to Melbourne
Sat: We had to return our campervan sadly :( we had grown quite attached to him! And now we are in the city about to take a bus to the airport and head to Bali.  Should be fun! We will be celebrating our 3 year anniversary on the 29th, and i couldn't imagine a better place be
