Very beautiful island with great bike paths and rich in history. The south end of the island has beautiful sandy beaches, the north end is driftwood beach. We will return!

Jekyll Island paradise may change
Capt Rick and JoAnn may not be aware that the fantastic experience they had on Jekyll will likely soon be changed drastically by private condo development and the expansion of more hotels, an upscale retail center, and other resort-type (rather than state park-type) development next to the (now open and natural) beach. Thousands of Georgians have protested this plan by the Jekyll Island Authority and a private developer, who will make millions on land owned by the citizens of Georgia and treasured by visitors from all over the United States. The next time Capt Rick and JoAnn come back to Jekyll, they may be shocked to see this state park, little sister to our national parks, turned into an upscale resort. Their relaxing, unhurried, and uncrowded romantic experience will be a thing of the past, replaced by the same experience one can find at any east coast resort.
