Well, we had such a good time at Rick's house, I didn't get a chance to blog, so here is yesterday's:

We got up in the morning at Idaho falls and saw the city for the first time (we had arrived after dark on Tuesday after the marathon day).  What a nice little town.  I did my 1/2 hour walk beside the river, which has a dam running down the center of the river with water spilling over into the main channel from the flume to the hydroelectric plants.  I have never seen that construction before.  We left for Eagle, Idaho across the southern end of the state.  Eagle is very near Boise.  The drive was flat and mostly high prairie 9again), and we had a 35 mph headwind all the way.  We saw lots of farm fields (some of which were potatoes I guess).

We got to my brother Rick's and his wife Shirley's house around 2:00 in the afternoon.  After retiring from United Air Lines in San Francisco, they bought a retirement home in Eagle, and it is stunning!  The neighborhood is only a few years old, and the homes are beautiful.  The subdivision is like a green oasis in the middle of the very dry prairie.  The neighborhood has a number of lakes, and borders on the Boise river.  The landscaping of the neighborhood is gorgeous!  After being greeted by their two beautiful Golden retrievers, Nova and Seven, we all went for a long walk around the neighborhood and shook out the cobwebs.  We spent a wonderful afternoon and evening reminiscing about old times.  Their hobby is travel, and they have been on cruises to the Mediterranean and Alaska this year.  Ricks passion is cooking, and he made chicken breasts on the grill with a marinade of 7 (I think) herbs and spices.  No, it was not Colonel Sanders.  The herbs were from his garden, and the taste was outstanding.

You can see from the picture that Rich and I both fished from the same end of the gene pool (the shallow end).  We share the shape of our Great Grandfather Isaac Heilmann, and, we find, several other genetic defects leading to hypertension, etc., etc.  We had a wonderful time and this was the high point of the trip so far.
