Itinary : Lahore - Multan - Bahawalpur -Zukkur - Quetta - Taftan
My thoughts on Pakistan : Well I don't have much to say except that the people are nice in general and that the police are everywhere making sure you make your way out safely! It was just too fast, too short...Emaad...I will have to come back here with you so that you can show me around...
Road : main roads are good with mostly 4 lane roads up to Zukkur. Than it's 2 lane roads from Zukkur to Quetta which is paved and good as well. Then From Quetta to Taftan, it's a a desert highway with almost a race track quality tarmac! You can definitely do some serious mileage if you want to rush trough the country.
Petrol : Petrol is not a problem from Lahore to Quetta and easy to find. Then from Quetta to Taftan, there are no petrol station with pump and you have to fill-up from Jerry cans along the road.
Food : Hmmm...No real problem but still have to be careful...Funnily we didn't eat a lot because we were rushing and didn't really take advantage of anything! 1 usd/meal along the road. In a "fancy" hotel restaurant I paid 10 usd/meal.
Accommodation : There are government hotels called PTDCs that are reasonable, price depends of the hotel's standards and ranges from 10 usd to 35 usd. A nice non-governmental hotel will cost 60 usd. We stayed mostly in top hotels where we shared a room, so hotel budget was quite high for Pakistan.
Weather : Sunny and hot in the east of Pakistan. In the west, along the Afghan border, it's desert and mountain so it's hot during the day and it can be cool-cold at night. Temperature ranged from 18-32 in the East and 6 to 32 in the west.
Currency : Pakistan Rupee, 1 usd = 58 Rp.
My high : Balochistan police encounter.
My low : My first scary encounter with Pakistan police in Multan!
