Detailed Description : Miracle of Flowers (Seasonal August to end October)

The visitor to Cape Town enters an enchanting realm of Nature that has few equals elsewhere in the world.

Cape Town and its surroundings offer unique seasonal specialities - like the spectacular floral displays that blanket the West Coast during the Spring Flower season.

The land looks dry, but hosts a range of fascinating plants, particularly the bizarre array of succulent semi-desert plants. It comes alive in spring when millions upon millions of flowers blossom to carpet the earth in a kaleidescope of colour.

The area receives visitors from around the world to admire this spectacle. This area is one of the six accepted floral kingdoms of the world. Although the smallest of them all, the Western Cape Floral Kingdom, locally called fynbos, contains more plant species than the whole of Europe.

It is a flower kingdom tossed among crags and kloofs - strange and beautiful and solitary. A land too difficult for man, too twisted and contorted by rock, too grudging and infertile. Yet, from this poor and spiritless earth, has grown the world's most dazzling explosion of wild plants, the Cape Fynbos.

Five other kingdoms sprawl across the continents, but the greatest riches are here, in the smallest kingdom, in this jagged realm on the far edge of Africa. Not even the rain forests of the Amazon can compete with the variety of flowers that belong to the Cape mountains and the restless sands that fall along the sea.

Experience the miracle of flowers with Sea More-Express.

To see a World in a grain of sand,

And Heaven in a wild flower,

Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,

And Eternity in an hour.

William Blake (1757-1827)
