We then continued southward through south Uist enjoying the countryside despite the rather cloudy and dark day. We made several attempts to reach the ocean shore but it was not easy as most roads ended well before reaching the shoreline. However at a place known as Trolaisgeir we did manage to reach the great Atlantic Ocean and were greeted by another magnificent white sand beach which stretched before us for miles in either direction.
Our journey carried us onward to the Isle of Erskey and at the ferry terminal leading to the Isle of Barra we turned back northward having had some splendid views of the Erskey harbour.
On the way back through South Uist we did stop to vie the birth place of Flora MacDonald and in an attempt to view what was billed as "round houses" found ourselves driving through a golf course - well let's say it was a golf course some years ago and had been let go but now is being redeveloped - you ask were we lost well yes and no - we were headed in the right direction but had no idea where we would end up until we arrived at the Golf Course Club House from the back side. No one seemed to mind or even for that matter notice - such is life on the Isles.
