Merry Christmas from the top of China

A few things since we last wrote:
We had our first night on the town in Nanning - went to 2 night clubs and got free shots all night from the chinese who find us very interesting - like being a celebrity
. We even got shout-outs on the mike from the DJ. We spent 27 hours traveling north by train, bus & foot to arrive at our current altitude of 2400 meters. The city we're in right now is an ancient village - a UNESCO world heritage site - here are some shots of the local Naxi tribespeople and the adjacent Snow Dragon Mountain.
Thanks to you who have written back - it's great to hear updates from friends.
Once again, Merry Christmas from China,
Roger & Suzanne
Hey guys! We wanted to send you a Chinese Santa so you can celebrate the holiday Chinese-style with us. We are now in Southwestern China, right on the border of Tibet -- we are freezing our butts off at night here (it snowed up on the mountain last night), but it is awesome during the day. Tomorrow morning we leave at the crack of dawn for a 2-day trek to Tiger Leaping Gorge -- so we'll be celebrating Christmas at 2800 meters! We will have a toast in your honor (the rye and Coke we have in a flask will come in handy) - and we'll be thinking of you and hope you have a merry Christmas - and a warmer one than we'll be having.
