Well, we arrived at Manzanillo Saturday evening, tired and hungry due to the fantastic snorkeling sessions that we had had earlier that day. It was a bit of a mission trying to find internet to get in contact with my friend Aubrey Dick and her parents, but we finally did. However, I hadn't really given them much notice as far as our arrival and what our plans were, so we were extremely pleased when they said that we could stay at there house.
There house is amazing and the food even more so! The three of us shared a huge room with a bathroom, walk-in closet and wireless internet. It was like our own little apartment right across the street from the beach and the best part was we didn't have to do any of the cooking. A banquet was already taking place when we arrived and it seems that they must have known we were coming, since even the three of us growing boys were uncapable of polishing off the rest of the salad, steaks, sausages, potatoes and grilled shrimp. If my memory serves, I do believe we washed it all down with wine and beer. Pretty fantastic way to be welcomed into there home!
On Sunday we went to the meeting, then to Burger King for lunch with Tim and Lory from Canada and then out in service. Tim was singing about beer the whole time (maybe a slight exageration), so the first thing we did when we got home was crack open a few. From there we had a tough day of visiting, playing cards, interneting, siestaing, and of course eating.
The following day we were very happy that we had a bathroom in our room since none of us were felling well. Tyler got the worst of it and we eventually had to take him to the clinic where they gave him an IV for rehydration, antibiotics and a few other things. Tyler was in really rough shape, but even in the state he was in he tried to make conversation with the Doctora, which was pretty funny! Had to be there I think. Later, Dan and I went to the beach with Aubrey and her dad Rick to go for a swim. Once in the water we were surrounded by hundreds of crazy dive-bombing pelicans. We tried to grab on to a few, but surprise surprise no success. To end to day on a high note we went back to the house and enjoyed probably the best chicken soup I have had prepared by none other than Aubrey Dick.
Thank you very much to the Dick family for your hospitality!
