I was able to take a short walk this morning.  I went to the water again in a different spot.

I have noticed that graffiti is not covered up here for the most part.  I guess people are just like dogs marking their territory.  I walked by a small power plant.  They have a cool-looking unique shiny metal power pole.  They have a "Green Belt" system here along the coastline.  Like home, it is frequented by walkers, joggers and bicycles. I saw a couple of guys fishing in the inland salt water lagoons.  Vaasa is definitely not a destination vacation city but it has been kind to us.  Today is another beauty with lots of sun and cool temperatures.

We were able to perform again at another care center.  We're singing better every day.  He said it was very special for him to be able to direct a chorus that sings together every day.  He is obviously enjoying our sing-outs more and more and I think all of us would agree.  We have one more opportunity tomorrow at the Closing Concert.  Then our group will break up considerably.  One couple is flying from here to Oslo.  The Honrud family is off by bus to tour Sweden and Norway.  A few others, including us, are splitting off to other locations once we get back to Helsinki.  The balance of the group heads back to Seattle on Monday evening.

We had another group, this one a mature (age) mixed group from a town 200k north of here sing while we were at the restaurant.  They sang 6 songs and 4 were from the American song book.  They sang in English and it was clear as a bell.  I remember Good-Bye Sweetheart and Sentimental Journey.  The "Con-Men" quartet happened to be there so we sang our 2 songs for them and they really seemed to enjoy it.  It never ceases to amaze me how music can bring people together in a matter of moments.  It is so rewarding for our group and for us as individuals to be a part of it.

Later alligator!
