Tuesday, the 16th - St. Thomas

This morning started off with a bang as both Lauren and Evan had Flowrider lessons at 8am. Lauren was a natural.  On her first run she eventually fell and the water carried her up and over the back where she hit the back will with her face.  She cut the inside of her lip with her braces and was in a bit of pain.  She hung in there and finished the lessons, then cleaned the blue stuff from the wall off of her braces.  Evan then moved over to the other Flowrider to continue riding until it closed at 11am.  He can't get enough time on those things.  I am sure that if we lived by the ocean, he would be a surfer dude (or whatever they are called these days).  After lunch one of the staff gave us a bowl of lemons and another bowl of salt so that Lauren could rinse her mouth a few times during the day with warm salty water to minimize the development of mouth sores.

In the afternoon we saw a water show.  We really didn’t know what to expect but didn’t expect it to be very good… especially after the ice show which was a little disappointing.  It was really amazing!  Very enjoyable.  There is a 15 million dollar show pool at the back of the ship and they had acrobats, divers, gymnasts, and synchronized swimmers working together to create a thrilling and captivating show.  It was an unexpected treat.

We have taken to eating all of our meals now in the Windjammer Restaurant near the sports deck.  It is casual, and has the most variety.  There is something for all of us and there is a heck of a lot of vegetarian food here.  We can choose from Indian and Asian offerings to the more traditional fries, etc.  Evan also loves the sugar free chocolate chip cookies so he likes to pick up some cookies on the Promenade close to our room for a snack.

We went for a stroll through Central Park and found a free café which has vegetarian paninis with roasted vegetables and a salad bar as well as bean salads, etc.

Wedensday, the 17th – St. Maarten

We are now on our 5th day of our cruise.  Evan has taken 2 more Flowrider lessons and is getting quite good.  He has pretty much mastered cutting back and forth and entering from the top of the wave.  He is now working on some other tricks like doing a 360 spin.  Lauren plans to try it again tomorrow and I might join her.

Today I rode the Zipline.  It was really fun.  I don’t seem to be bothered by the heights at all and I feel pretty safe.  I guess if I wasn’t buckled in carefully, I would be terrified.

Yesterday we found out that about 35 people missed boarding the boat last Saturday because their flights were cancelled somewhere in the U.S. and they had to board the ship in St. Thomas.

Our days are spent relaxing a lot (except for Evan), Flowriding, playing ping pong, eating, playing foosball, reading, rock climbing, doing teen activities, ziplining, watching shows, and eating some more.

We saw an excellent show this evening.  Lauren slept most of the afternoon and Evan who I can tell is tired, has trouble keeping still and must go off to play foosball or table tennis or partake in a teen activity.  The weather has been perfect since we got on the ship and the forcast for tomorrow is 24 degrees… getting a little cooler but still sunny and nice.

Oh boy, Evan sure has energy for all kinds of activities. Bet he will be exhausted on the way back home soon. Sorry that Lauren hurt her lips. Looking forward to seeing you soon. XOXOxoxo
