Today was a great day!! I met two Canadians at my hostel last night, Taylor and Kirstin, and they decided to come with me to visit the salt mines in Hallein, a 15-minute train ride from Salzburg. It was one of the most interesting tours I've been on so far. Before it begun, we got dressed in hilarious white mining suits, and took a train into the caves. The hour-long visit included underground slides, a walk across the border into Germany, and a boat ride on a salt lake!

We just missed the bus on our way out, so we started heading back to Hallein on foot when a British couple we'd met on the tour drove by us and told us to hop in. We got a free ride all the way back to Salzburg! The Christmas markets opened here today, so we walked around, had some delicious roasted chestnuts and browsed the amazing booths. I love this time of year, and the cheer that comes with it!!

Kirstin and I will probably head back there later on, hoping to see them light up the big Christmas tree as we sip on mulled wine. It's meant to snow here in the next few days, so I guess that would only add to the wonder! I feel like such a kid, but I love it! :)
