As planned, I decided to take a day trip to Sibenik, seeing as I had already visited most of Zadar. I got there after a 2-hour bus ride and went straight to the Cathedral of St.James, a World Heritage sight. The cathedral is known for being built entirely out of stone, which comes from the island of Brač - the same place that supplied the stone to build the US White House and Diocletian's Palace in Split. The interior of the church was amazingly detailed, just as its frieze on the outside, which portrays 71 portraits of ordinary 15th-century citizens of varying expressions. It was definitely worth seeing!

I then walked around the windy, narrow streets of Sibenik which were mostly laid out in the 15th and 16th centuries. It started to rain a little, so I found refuge in a cafe along the harbour and had another intensely-rich hot chocolate. I ended up sitting there for a few hours to wait for the rain and thunder to subside, and eventually headed back to the bus station and consequently to Zadar. It therefore seems that I rode the bus for 4 hours to see a church and drink a hot chocolate, but I guess it made the tmie go by quickly! haha!

When I got back to Zadar, I decided to treat myself to a 'proper' dinner at a sitdown restaurant. For the first time ever, I sat alone at such a restaurant (not a cafe, or lunch place, but a proper place with a menu and a waiter)....and it really wasn't so bad at all!! I feel proud to have done it, and feel that much stronger because of it!
