So, here I am, in beautiful Lake District. Unfortunately, I can't see any of it! The rain hasn't stopped since I got here yesterday afternoon, and it doesn't look like it will cease before I leave tomorrow morning. Hence, I'm sitting in the town's only Internet cafe (which is quite pricey), just so I have something to do!!
I'm at Windermere, the largest lake in the area, near a town called Bowness, which I'm in right now. I wanted to go hiking and wandering around, but the weather hasn't really allowed me to do much. As I was literally the only person in my hostel last night, I just made myself dinner and watched some TV (thank god for that invention!). I was hoping today would be better, but since it's not, I'll have to content myself with reading a book, sipping on coffee, and maybe treating myself to a movie later. Yes, this small town does have a movie theatre!
Therefore, I don't really have much to entertain you with this time around! I'll be heading to Liverpool tomorrow though, and since it has the honour of being Europe's City of Culture for 2008, and home to the Beatles, I'm hoping to have better stories to tell you from there. This weekend, I'll be visiting my friend Katie on the Isle of Man, and then heading over to Ireland. I've booked another 3-day tour of southern Ireland at the end of next week, so that should be fun as well.
To answer some of your comments:
- Lori: That's one of the benefits of travelling alone...you'll just start talking to any random stranger! And yes, the deep-fried mars bar was quite delicious, although I'm surprised it didn't end in a heart-attack! Probably best that I didn't combine it with deep-fried pizza...
- Papa: je suis contente que t'aime le blog - c'etait ca l'idee!! :)
- Mom: Definitely send me photos...she looks adorable. I cant believe how small she is!

'The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see'.
Don't you dare become a 'tourist'!!!!! Snif! Snif! Snif!
PS: Sorry about that. Just wanted to kick your spirit a little. Love you xxxxx
PS2: When in Ireland, you might just see the cows that give the cream they use to make Bailey's. Wow!!!
Poor you
Hi sweetheart, poor you, all that rain. Well, good thing, you had the hostel to yourself. That must have been nice and at least you got to take some time for yourself. Liverpool, Beatles, lucky you. You will soon be with your friend Katie and then on a 3 day tour in Ireland so you will be busy again. It's a good thing that you're alone sometimes so you can take it easy.
Well, here in Vegas the temp dropped because of the fall, still sunny every day and only in the 80's and 70's at night. Hard to handle.
I will send you pics soon. Enjoy the quite time you have when you have it. It is good for the soul.
Love you lots and of course miss you so. Can't wait to see you.
Hugs and Kissesxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxoooooooooooooooooo

My bad!
I didn't mean to make it sound like I was feeling sorry for myself or anything...I was just reporting the bad weather and the lack of things to do! I still enjoyed Windermere though. :)
And to my surprise, the weather cleared up at the end of the afternoon so I went on a boat ride around the lake, and I got to see a little of the view.
Dad - you're right! But I'm still a traveler at heart, so no worries!
Mom - you should be happy that it's not 116 degrees anymore - now you can actually go outside without fear of spontaneously combusting! ;)
