There was still more of Prague to see that wasn't covered in the tour yesterday, so I met up with Whitney to go see more of it.

After some shopping, we headed to the Fred and Ginger building, this office block that is truly one of a kind.  I don't know how to explain it, so just check out the pics.  We than headed to the Kampa museum, this small modern art museum that had a collection of Andy Warhol works.  Since I've heard of the guy but didn't really know anything about him I was quite interested.  Most of the time I had my face right up to the picture wondering "how'd he do that?"  Silkscreen, it turns out.

Whitney then snuck some pics of the bums sleeping in the park.  I have yet to see them, but I'm sure they're fantastic.  More sad, really, I'm sure.

Continuing with my fascination with churches, I went into the famous St. Nicholas', and I was blown away.  It was the first truly baroque church that I'd been to and it is an assault on the senses.  Every little bit of the church is lavishly decorated.  It's one thing to see this stuff in the books, and quite another to see it in person.  It is just so over the top ornate and detailed.  I couldn't help but just marvel at it, the amount of time, money, and energy that would have gone into building something like that.

We spent some more time in the castle area, checking out the art gallery (unremarkable) and the grounds surrounding the palace (fine area for a stroll).  We were searching for these tunnels that she had heard about that supposedly make a good photo op;  finally we found one.  It was just what you'd expect...a dark tunnel :)

My little (almost) southern friend was good company so we agreed to meet up later that evening again for a pub crawl, seeing as it was her birthday.  As a stewardess she gets a number of free international flights, so she decided that Prague for a few days would be where she'd spend her birthday.  And I figured that a pub crawl would be a good evening out.

Of course, we never made it.  To make a long story short, we missed the crawl, picked up another Canadian guy named Josie from her hostel, and we ended up wandering the old town for a while looking for a bar.  But that area of town is mainly for the older, richer tourists, so the three of us headed back up north to the same bizarre club we were at the night before.  Some special DJ was playing so the place was packed, but we had a great time until after 4am.  I noticed even more strange decorations:  Football tables on the ceiling, old bus benches for seats, speakers made from wheels.  And still cheap drinks.  God bless the Jagerbomb!

The main street in Prague is called Wenceslas (WEN-shes-les) Square.  During the day it's crawling with tourists and lined with souvenir shops, crystal boutiques, and western clothing stores.  And a McDonald's every 100 meters.  And at 5am the McDonald's is still open.  Drunks can still eat, thanks to Ronald McDonald.

God Bless America :(
