Where I stayed
The area just outside of town was the film location for Lord of the Rings - tourist capitalization of this fact is very very prevalent
Today we said good bye to the BSA group and started back toward Christchurch. Drove along the Lindis Pass and to Mt Cook. The sky is blue, the water is brilliant aqua and it is warm! This is the first riding I have done without 3 layers under my Belstaff.
(remember it is summer here, we have gone so far South that we are in a Northern Climate). Tonight we are staying in Lake Tekapo with Paul from NZ. Paul is riding a 1971 Triumph Bonneville that is like the one David had when I et him. Paul is in the process of setting up a Touring Rental Company " Triumphant Hire". I was Lady Photo today and filmed video of him riding through the mountains from the sidecar. Then I drove him in the sidecar and David drove the Bonneville along the lake with Mt Cook in the background! Amazing.
This is the other side of the accommodation market. We loved the camping cabins - wish there were some like it in the states - We LOVE the condo with 2 bedrooms, washer/dryer, full kitchen, fireplace & HD TV. Chef Paul cooked dinner - pictures attached. Tomorrow is an easy drive to Christchurch, return the bike, pack the suitcases and prepare for the long flight back North. The time has gone very quickly - hard to believe I will be back at work in a few days. It seems like we just arrived.
