A late Thursday night decision led to the idea of going to Sucre for the weekend with Pedro. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances (namely Pedro getting drunk in the mines with the miners and other guides) I ended up going to Sucre by myself.

Sunshine and singlets again!
I left Potoś in a taxi at 8pm and arrived at about 10:30pm to Sucre after a very uncomfortable trip squeezed in the back of the taxi. Sucre was nice and mild, none of the chilling cold of Potosino nights.

The next morning I pulled out my thongs, singlet and shorts for the first time in seemingly ages and took off to explore the city.

Casa de Libertad
The Casa de Libertad is a fabulous museum of Bolivia`s history 01 Plaza in Sucre

. As there were no English tours being run that day I wandered around by myself and learned about Bolivia`s past presidents (including one called Pedro Blanco who was only in office for 4 days before being assassinated), saw the very first Argentinian flag and saw an excellent portrait of Juana Azurdoy who was part of the revolution with her husband.

Dino Tracks
One of the main attractions to Sucre for me were the dinosaur footprints. I decided to take the Dino-Truck, a red 1952 International A Series truck with benches in the back. It took about 20 minutes to get to the footprints, which are behind a cement factory. The prints were discovered by the workers who were removing the lime for use in the cement factory.

Our enthusiastic guide, Carolina, led us first to a scraped out piece of dirt (to represent the swampy lake that existed in prehistoric times. There were lots of different toy dinosaurs and she explained each type of dinosaur and what their footprints looked like.

Then we took off to the extremely impressive wall. It looks like a humungous slab of concrete it is so defined 02 Dino Truck

. We saw lots of footprints and learned about how they are continuing to discover more prints as the weather erodes the top, fragile layer away. I got to have my picture taken with a print. It is hard to imagine that there are these footprints so well preserved and now almost vertical!!

The Plaza
The main plaza in Sucre is such a nice place to hang out. I saw lots of soldiers hanging out in the plaza, lots of drink sellers and lots of women with grotty kids begging for money. Actually, after what I`ve just written it doesn`t really sound that nice, but it really was. I spent a lot of time just sitting, watching and thinking in the plaza under a tree.

Things I`ve Learned
* Sucre is a pleasant place to take a break from Potoś
* The largest continuous dino tracks and the most number of dino tracks can be found in Sucre
* I need to travel more often and change my mentality about my relationship with Pedro (ie no more waiting, no more dependency)
