What with the big castle you have to drive through to get to the centre, Parque Jipiro and alabaster soldiers looking over the bus station and a musical pedestrian overpass it felt like a theme park waiting to come alive.

Parque Jipiro
This is about the only interesting thing in Loja, with minitures of famous buildings. I slid down a slide that formed the exit of a replica Russian church. It was a bit squashy, although if my hips hadn`t slowed me down I would have shot out the end!

Spent some time playing around the playground and going back to childhood. Swinging on swings, whizzy dizzy whirlies, sliding down slides and climbing on the back of a giant alabaster donkey for a picture.

I even attempted a Bridget Jones style slide down a firemans pole, only to arrive at the bottom with scorched hands and friction holes in my pants.

What I Learned
* I`m excited about going back to Peru and getting overloaded on ruins
* There is a lack of decent restaurants to choose from in Loja
* Some things should be left to children
