I have been worked to death by previous professors, but never walked to death.  Until today...

We left Wadham and walked to the Thames, which locals refer to as the Isis (for reasons still unknown to me).  Boats on the Isis

Narrow houseboats lined up all along the riverbanks...everything is smaller in Britain, including the hallways!  I think that only people who wear a size 2 could own such a boat.

After stopping at a pub along the river, we continued our trek to Iffley.  A Norman church still stands there, and a display on the inside walls lists the incumbent pastors dating back to 1170! Iffley's incumbent pastors

As we walked back (for hours), one of the professors showed us JRR Tolkein's Oxford home, which is right around the corner from Wadham.  Tolkein's house!

It is not marked with a "THIS IS A NATIONAL TREASURE" type of sign or anything of the sort...all of these historical sites just sit there unassumedly until some knowledgeable soul can inform others of its significance.

Dinner back at Waham had an Oriental flare...cabbage eggrolls and chicken in a tangy sauce.  Not my favorite.  Berries and cream for dessert.  Definitely a favorite!
