University of St. Francis Physician Assistant Program. Albuquerque
definitely had the desert feel. There was a lot of red rock and
desert type vegetation. Albuquerque is unique for having the largest
tram in the United States. If you go to Albuquerque definitely ride the
tram to the top. Its nice to get out of the city and see
what the area looks like. It was also nice to get to the top and see a
few pine trees and other plants. When in Albuquerque you should visit Old Town. It is an older district in that area
. There are great places to eat and historic buildings to see. We have pictures of petroglyph's on rocks. I don't remember where we were at for this. We just ran into it. It was fun to hike the short trail and see the the petroglyph's on the rock. It was a little scary seeing the "don't get off the trail rattlesnake danger" signs along the trail. Growing up in Utah I was aware that the rocky landscape seemed like a perfect place for a snake to hide and bite your ankles as you walk by. We spent about three days there. This was one of our first trips together as a married couple so we were unfamiliar with renting cars and everything so we just showed up to thrifty and asked what they had. It seemed like everything was expensive but they ended up hooking us up with a big blue van for a good price. It was fun touring the town just the two of us in the big van. The interview went great at the University. The St. Francis program starts every January (earlier than most, generally the others start in August) I remember them asking us (the applicants) specifically if we were accepted why we wouldn't leave them later for Duke University, which is exactly what i ended up doing. I felt bad but not too bad because they kept my $500 deposit. The St. Francis Physician Assistant building used to be an old lumbar building. It was pretty small but they only had Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner students there. The other thing that was neat about the interview experience there was that they told you straight to your face the same day of the interview whether you were accepted or not. This was my first interview and was very nervous. Even the University of St. Francis receives about 600-700 applicants for about 40 spots. It was an amazing experience when I went back with the program director and he told me that my hand writing was too good to work in the medical field (that was the first time in my life that I had heard that my handwriting was even legible) then he told me that I was accepted into there program.
