At last I had set foot on German soil. Well, German asphalt at least. I don't think I have ever felt more lost than I felt at that moment. All I heard all around me was gergenfargenhoogendoogen. I couldn't understand what anyone was saying and I had no idea where I was going. Luckily in the airport the signs are in English too.
I made my way to the baggage claim area. It was quite a hike. I was surrounded by people who were all either really well dressed or were dressed much like my sister (anyone who has seen her knows that that is a very strange way to dress :p). There was a skinny old woman in tight leopard print paints, a teenage guy in all black with a mohawk, a very well dressed suave looking couple probably just back from a romantic getaway, and occasionally you could spot the lost American tourist who was usually dressed in a brightly colored Hawaiian shirt and a fanny pack.
After I got my suitcase and went through customs I made my way to the USO. Since I came on a different and later flight than my dad had planned on me coming I figured he would be waiting for me there. I waited a few minuted and then he showed up. We got into his truck and were off, heading for Bad Windsheim via the autobahn, when I realized, much to my dismay, that I left my camera in my suitcase which was now sitting cozy in the truck bed. Crap.
