Route: From Waldport, OR to Cape Lookout State Park, OR
Kilometres: 134

After packing up the cabin, we continued north on the already-trodden path towards Newport, but then continued onward to Lincoln City. Our first stop was just south of town, to find the Beach Dog Cafe – a yummy stop for brunch with some serious 'dogs' (both in the numerous pictures on the walls and good eats on the plate!). We even overheard people that had been in for breakfast, and were back for their speciality hotdogs for lunch – which we were seriously contemplating! Alas, we made our way into the main part of town and to the Tanger Outlet Centre, for some outlet shopping with the joys of no state tax! Managed to get through there without too much damage, and with one more stop at the grocery store, we continued north on the 101.

At first we stopped at the Devil’s Punch Bowl, and then veered off the 101 and stayed along the coastline to take the 3 Capes Drive. The first cape was Cape Kiwanda, through Pacific City, and then we climbed up and over a mountain to the next cape. This was our stop for the next couple nights, at the Cape Lookout State Park campground. Now although this wasn’t a typical campground (more parking-lot-esque with some bushes to separate the sites), we can appreciate the fact that we were just over the sand dune and 10m from the beach, with clear sounds of the ocean waves. It was quite overcast with low-lying clouds when we pulled into the site, and it was odd to feel the constant mist through the sites, so we popped the tarp over the tent just in case. After another good tea over the fire, and observing the serious family reunion (with matching t-shirts of course) happening at the lots just over the bush connected to us, we called it a night to the sounds of the ocean.
