After the palaces of Mysore it was off to the hill station of Ooty.  The weather was a welcome relief and it felt like a nice fall day in Canada.  Ooty at over 2200m in elevation escapes the heat of the lowlands and makes it a nice holiday location. We walked around the surrounding area and ate home made chocolate to pass the time.  The evenings were cool but quite pleasant (we had a piping hot shower in the hotel).  After Siva leaving us, we are back on our own again.  It was a little sad to say goodbye as it was great having her with us over the last month or so.

After so many days of go go go, we spent a well deserved rest day at the gorgeous Botanical Gardens in Ooty, celebrated Calvin's birthday, and even went for a long walk in the hills.  It's been a while since we have been able to actually go for a peaceful walk and get some proper exercise!

I am looking forward to visiting Ooty, perhaps November next year. Glad to see other Canadians have been there recently.

My grandmother went there from Hyderabad in the summer of 1900 with her new baby (my aunt), to get out of the heat. I'd love to re-enact that trip. Except we'd miss Bangalore.
