Kanyakumari is at the tip of India, and is famous for it's gorgeous sunsets and sunrises (that can obviously be seen from the same place!).  We spent the first day recovering from the previous night's train ride, and walking around the sleepy town.  That evening, the sunset was spectacular, and we all had a great time people watching.  There are a lot of tourists here, but most of them are Indians.  We saw school groups, old families, young couples, and lot of little kids playing in the water and admiring the sight at the tip of the country.

We also went to a Vivekananda Exhibition.  Vivekananda was a philosopher known has the wandering monk, and lived in the late 1800s.  His teachings about social justice and the tenants of Hinduism were quite articulate and true.  What was very sobering was how true his thoughts on poverty and injustice still ring so true in India over a hundred years later.

The morning sunset was early, and a bit overcast, but still nice to see before the train ride into Kerala.
