Took the "Inka Express" to Cusco, passing the highest point we were to see, 4300m or 14,000 ft above sea level.  It snowed.  By the time we arrived in Cusco there were trees around, so it didnīt seem as bleak.  Stayed in "El Mirador de la Nusta" which was unfortunately attached to a bar with live music late into the night...
Aug 8-9
Hung out in Cusco, and took a bus tour of the Sacred Valley.  Got some great photos of Pisac, Ollyantambo, and Chinchuro and many inca ruins there.  One of the kids selling stuff not only knew English and the capital of Canada but also knew that Stephen Harper was the current prime minister.  Jesma gave him a Sole.  Stayed in a cute hostel with smelly bathrooms called "Sweet Daybreak".  The owners, a Peruvian lady and Belgian man, were very nice.  Caught a little bit of the Olympics opening ceremonies.
