Our first full day in Prague! We woke up to a beautiful day today. The Old Town Square was quiet in the early morning. We enjoyed a nice breakfast at the hotel before making our way across the river and up to Prague Castle (via tram 22). The castle is HUGE and quite a sight to see. Within the castle walls is St. Vitus Cathedral, which was the first site we saw. It too is quite large and the early morning sunbeams coming into the Cathedral were amazing. We spent all of our morning in Prague Castle, seeing the Royal Palaces, Golden Lane, the Basilica of St. George, and Powder Tower before heading out of the castle. In the square just outside the castle we saw what was left of the changing of the guard ceremony.

The group wandered back into the Mala Strana area of town to find some lunch and rest our feet. We found a place at the bottom of the hill and were served by a waiter from Texas! He said he had been in Prague about four years and loved it (we understand why)!

After lunch we made our way across the Charles Bridge and made a quick stop at the hotel to drop off some things. Dad stayed to get some rest while the rest of us spent some time shopping in the narrow streets of the Old Town. Everyone found a few souvenirs over the next few hours. The streets were really crowded today in Prague, as it is a very popular place these days.

Dinner was on the Old Town Square this evening, which was very nice. The weather was perfect and very comfortable.

To cap off our evening, we went on a Ghost Tour of Prague with the Grim Reaper! Our guide was very entertaining and told some pretty good stories. I would say the tour was more funny than scary though.

It was a near perfect day in Prague and we celebrated with some LARGE scoops of gelato!

Looking forward to continuing to explore Prague tomorrow...
