We arrived in Prague around 6 p.m. today. It was quite an adventure getting through the Old Town to the hotel. Our hotel, the Grand Hotel Praha, is on the Old Town Square. As there are no cars allowed in the square, our GPS took us to an alleyway in back of the hotel. The hotel staff were kind enough to bring a trolley out to the van and wheel our luggage back to the hotel before also parking the van for us.

The hotel is a historic structure with no elevator going to our rooms. This makes for a lot of stair-climbing to get to the rooms. The bellman from the hotel who brought all of our luggage up the stairs was literally dripping sweat, as he was lugging about 100 pounds of luggage up the steps at a time (after he had unpacked our van, went to an off-site parking garage to park it, then walk back from the garage)!

Anyway, the views from our rooms are amazing, overlooking the Old Town Square and directly across from Town Hall and the Astronomical Clock. We took a lot of pictures from the room windows before heading out to check out the square and find some dinner. We had dinner at a small restaurant (in the same alleyway we had originally parked the van). It was a nice spot and had good food. Dad had a large Czech beer to celebrate Steve and Sue's birthdays. Traditional Czech food was had all around.

After dinner we walked through the Old Town and across the Charles Bridge. The first view we saw of Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral lit up at night was simply amazing! We took a lot of pictures and walked all the way across the bridge and back. We found some gelato in the Old Town Square (yummy!) to cap off the evening before calling it a night.

Looking forward to Prague Castle tomorrow!
