We had a nice flight from Philly to Munich. We enjoyed a nice sunset and a beautiful sunrise on the flight. Of course, just as we were all settling in to get some rest, the turbulence picked up and we had a hard time getting to sleep. Eventually those who wanted to sleep, were able to get some. Overall, the flight was very good.

We had a bit of an adventure getting out of the rental car lot with our van. Steve Babcock hadn't driven a stick shift in quite some time and wanted to make sure he understood how to get into reverse before we left the lot. After a bit of a struggle we decided to just continue out of the lot without knowing how to find reverse. That backfired as we came upon a gate that required a card before it would let us out. I was unable to find the card, which meant Steve B. had to reverse (which he didn't know how to do). We asked a nice gentleman for help and while that was going on I found the card we needed. A few minutes later we were out of the lot and on our way into Munich.

Steve B. quickly got comfortable with the van and driving the stick and we arrived at the hotel in no time. We left our bags with the hotel staff and Steve parked the van in a nearby lot. We then headed for Marienplatz to find some lunch. We ate outside on the square, which was nice, and enjoyed a lunch of local food.

After lunch everyone decided to get some rest (I went for a bike ride). The couple of hours rest did everyone very good. We enjoyed dinner, drinks, and entertainment at the Hofbrauhaus and now are settling in to watch the FIF Women's World Cup Final between the U.S.A. and Japan. GO USA!!!!

Driving a stick shift is foreign to a lot of people!! We are all spoiled. Once you learn though, you never forget!!!

No kidding! Steve is actually doing a great job of getting us around!

I agree with you, but the first time I drove last year was an adventure. This year was much better, but the first few minutes were exciting!
