A 3 hour bus ride from Washington managed to go through 4 States (DC, Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania) but all I really saw were the masses of trees at the sides of the highway, and quite a high number of U-Haul vans!

Was pretty lazy in Philadelphia, after an early visit to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell on Monday morning I walked out along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Museum of Art. Independence Hall was interesting, it's been restored to look just like it did when George Washington, Ben Franklin etc worked on the Declaration of Independence to get them out from under the thumb of those horrible British tyrants.

After a quick look at the Liberty Bell I decided to walk out to the Museum of Art on the other side of the city centre. On my way I went through the JFK Plaza, renamed (not sure how long for) as the Love Plaza because it has a huge sign saying Love in front of it's fountain - I think it's related to the fact that everyone is supposed to be welcome in the "city of brotherly love". I liked the walk out along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway - modelled on the Champs Elysees, lots of trees, you could almost forget that you're in a big city.

When I got the the Museum I did what everyone else was doing - ran up the steps like Rocky did! I bet it's be the most visited museum in the world if you counted the number of people who went up the steps but not inside the front door!! After a wee rest I went back down and got my picture with the man himself (well a statue anyway!).

Monday evening I went out on a ghost tour arranged by the hostel - no-one told the ghosts though cos I didn't see any. Creepiest thing was being in Washington Park - although it looks just like a normal park it's actually where more than 2,000 people are buried! The only one with a gravestone is the Unknown Revolutionary soldier - it's a pretty impressive one though!

On Tuesday I had a nice relaxing day - went for a walk along the river, read my book and generally just passed the time til I had to head for my train to Boston. After a busy time in Washington it was nice to do nothing for a while and give my feet a rest!
