Breakfast in Prague, evening in nuremberg market
Entry 26 of 65 | show all | print this entry |
Our overnight train from Krakow arrived in Prague, Czech Republic at 0700 am and we had a wait until 0900 am from our connection to Nuremberg. The first original plan way back when was to have several hours stop over in Prague so we could explore the city but that would shorten our time in Nuremberg so we decided to only have a short connection time. So we headed out of the train station to look for somewhere to have breakfast. About 150 metres up the street we found a 5 star hotel and asked if breakfast was open to the public which luckily they reply yes. We had a lovely breakfast buffet which included bacon and eggs, fruits, croissiants, hot coffee, juices, breads etc etc. The total bill was 2,500, that right 2,500, brak it down 500 each but in czech dollars which is equal to about 17 euro each. It was worth every czech cent. We then headed back to the train station to catch our train to Nuremberg and a further 5 hour train journey. On our arrival to Nuremberg and settling into our accommodations and a shower for the first time since leaving Austria we headed off to the famous Nuremberg Christmas Markets. While looking at all the wonderful stalls we had some warmed mulled wine, Gluwein, this one was much nicer than the Gluwein in the Salzberg market and we then watched some of the Christmas Concert. We were advised of a great traditional german restraunt next to the market and had a lovely dinner there. James had traditional Nurmeberg sausages (6 little slightly spicy sausages) and mash, the other boys had a roasted pork knuckle (as big as a childs arm) and I had the most delicious grilled duck in an orange sauce. We then rolled back to our hotel and collapsed in a heap.
