Through Boston, New Hampshire to Freeport, MN

After leaving a great campground thick woods just leaving out driving past cranberry bogs and inlets we crossed the Cape Cod Canal on our way to Plymouth Rock. Telling the kids we needed to see the famous rock otherwise known as the first tourist attraction. We parked and walked past the Mayflower II a replica of the Mayflower which was filled with a group of school kids we arrived at Plymouth Rock. Much to our dismay the building covering the rock along the beach was gated off and being refurbished. We of course walked down the rock to the sand and the tide was out enough we could see the bottom of the rock sticking out of the sand covered with a plywood box to protect it from construction and refurbishment. The construction superintendent yelled at us to get away, not a chance we traveled 6,000 miles we were going to see the rock.
We were planning on stopping in Boston and walk the Freedom Trail, past Paul Revere's house the oldest house in Boston and many other historical places but it was not to be. While driving into Boston we were following our GPS laptop system it did not have the correct maps since the Big Dig under Boston. By the time we realized where we were Boston was in our rear view mirror. So on we went through New Hampshire to Maine. We stopped in Freeport Maine the home of Lands End and had dinner at the Lobster Broiler a small place your order restaurant. We had fish-N-Chips and Crab sandwich very good very fresh. We ended up at Desert of Maine campground. Which 200 years ago was a working farm but they farmed it too hard and cut down too many trees leaving the fine sand left over from glaciers able to blow around forming sand dunes. Today it is a tourist attraction for kids and family's, every one needs a tourist attraction.
