We toured Monticello, the beautiful mountain top home of Thomas Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson built his house with funds and slaves he inherited from his father and wife's father. Thomas Jefferson the 2nd Governor of Virgina, 3rd President of the United States, Author of the Declaration of Independence listed his occupation on the US census as Farmer (talk about understatements) . At Monticello Jefferson lived with his children, sister and her family and any number of guests. The house displayed many scientific and artifacts from Indians and treasures collected by Lewis and Clark.
After touring Monticello we decided to drive through the Shenandoah National Park, the dogwood trees were in bloom and trees leafing out at the lower elevations. At the upper elevations 3000-4000 feet the trees are just starting to leaf out.
We then drove to Potomac Maryland to stay with Mary's brother Paul, wife Denise and kids Rebbecca, Ian just coming home from his first year at the Citadel in South Carolina. Denise generously takes care or her grandson, Alyson's first baby. Very Cute baby and always smiling.
