We made it safely!!! My flight was on time and smooth... so all that was great. We landed in Managua about 8:30 Nica time (so 10:30 at home). It took a while to go through customs and get our bags, but it wasn't too painful. I met some nice Nicaragua people on the plan who talked to me like I spoke Spanish - so I just smiled and said si! Also, once we got off the plane all of the airport people were masked! Apparently, they are scared of Americans bringing in swine flu?! kinda funny.... haha

We were then picked up by our driver (who is going to be our driver the whole trip) and he was very nice and spoke English. We went to the hotel, and I was pleasantly surprised!!! It is gated and the rooms are clean, warm showers, free wi-fi, a TV, andddddddddd no bugs in my bed! There were lizards on the ceiling outside my room, but I just ignored them.

Once we got settled in our hotel room we were all excited to be here so we decided to check out the Managua night life haha. We went to a karaoke bar! It was pretty fun... and no, I did NOT sing. We were all going to, until we walked in and everyone who sang was like really good (and it was in Spanish) haha... but it was still a fun time. I tried the white rum which Nicaragua is apparently famous for?... and it wasn't too bad :)

We finally got back to our hotel at like 2:00 am Nica time, and I was so tired and definitely ready to go to sleep! Now it is 8:35 am and I was woken up by the sun coming in our room about 6:00, but I managed to go back to sleep!

This morning we got up and walked around the streets of Managua... it was CRAZY. The traffic was insane (and don't really care about the whole pedestrians walking thing)... and there were people all over trying to sell bread, which they were carrying on their head, or fruits, or anything like that. We went into a cool furniture store, then their grocery store. All pretty fun and much different than the US! I didn't bring my camera, so I don't have any pictures... but we are staying here for a week later on in the trip - so there will be pictures later!

Well, we are planning to go to Ometepe Island today. This is where we are going to hike volcanic mountains and stuff, and see monkeys and birds -- so this should be fun and uh, interesting!! I also will not get internet this weekend, so I will write back as soon as possible!

Miss and love everyone in the States <3!
