Our new home! Check it out!
So we've been in Suzhou for over 3 weeks now, and absolutely love it! We have found a few great places to eat traditional Chinese food, and also some places you couldn't pay us to go back to. We've seen most of the famous gardens here, which you can see pictures of in our photo album. Tiger Hill was our favorite. The entire park(about 100 acres) served as the burial grounds for the King and founder of Suzhou. It is said that 3 days after his death a white tiger was seen standing above his grave, which is how the burial site got it's name. Which ever garden we go to, if it's a weekend there are always hundreds of people following tour guides with megaphones. It takes away from the enchanting atmosphere, but it can't be avoided.
School life is going really well, and the kids are so much fun. Teaching english to kids who really don't know much was really difficult the first week, but after two weeks I think we've gotten the hang of it. We are looking forward to our week long break from Oct. 1st-7th. It is a national holiday known as National Day(but really it's to celebrate the New Moon calendar, or something like that). Officially it's only 3 days off, but our school is having class on the Saturday before and the Sunday after, in order to give is a full 5 days off. We are headed to Hong Kong, the Southern area of China, where we'll be staying with Claire's family friends. We are so excited to continue our travels and experience a new city.
