Todos Santos (all saints) is what old Baja was all about.  Located about 1 hour north of Cabo San Lucas, Todos Santos is still that quaint, small, sleepy town.  A far cry from the insane, bustling nightmare of CSL.

Behind the high adobe walls that line the centro streets, you can only guess of the oasis' you might find.  I am one of those excited few who wait each year for the residents to open their homes up to the public so we can get a peek at what goes on behind those walls.

Home to a very popular art festival each year, Todos Santos swells in population.  Many ex-pat artisans, old hippy surfers, artsie fartsies, and rich retirees call this place casa dulce casa.  I call it paradiso.  You can surf the shores, hike the mountains, stroll the estuary, fetch an ice cream from the vendor at the shady zocolo.  Todos Santos has a old world charm that is unmatched.  A hide-a-way from a spouse or tax-evasion is still possible here.

So is it true that the Hotel California is the one the Eagles sang about in their famous song?  Ask the locals and you will get conflicting answers.   I'm going to live in the fantasy, until Don Henley calls me.

more to come....
