From Vegas we shot through the deserts of California and spent a night in Palm Desert / Palm Springs.  These towns were super cool and home to old Hollywood, old money and tons of golf courses.  We stayed at the JW Marriott Resort in Palm Desert which was an amazing piece of property offering two 18 hole golf courses, spa, 5 pools, tennis, etc.  We basically chilled out by the pool - the sun is still very strong even at 5pm!.  After we headed into Palm Desert for dinner at this cute Italian restaurant.  We hit the bistro in prime time -  by the time we got there it was the tail end to what had been, or what looked to be, a successful happy hour.  This elderly couple next to us (Rodney Dangerfield look a like / wanna be) began speaking to us in that loud, boisterous voice, cracking jokes etc.  We over head him saying to his wife "just sit there until I am ready".. We thought they were arguing and she wanted to leave but he didn't want her to.  It turned out that she did want to leave..but couldn't physically remove herself from the table.  The guy collected their doggies bags, then his wife, and literally carried her out of the restaurant into their awaiting Range Rover.  It was classic, none of us could figure out exactly who was carrying who.  Next morning we made our way to down town Palm Springs for lunch at Cheeky's..great place!

Palm Springs and Palm Desert were towns with a lot of character..the art deco aligned streets just gave you the right flavor of what these towns were like in their prime..when folks like Sinatra, Bing Crosby, ..Hollywood elite would come here seeking refuge to chill out and party.  This is a great place to come visit, especially if you are a golfer...great places to shop too.
